Closing Day?
We were supposed to close on the house by today. The seller’s had our paperwork for three weeks now.
But, they’re finally ready and we’re closing on Thursday!
Update on the House—March 9, 2009
We had the house inspected last week. It went as expected.
We’re supposed to close by March 20th.

Once and for all, What is the House?
We’ve done it! We’ve finally come up with a reasonable, succinct, practical explanation of what we want to do.
It’s no longer a wishy, washy idea. After thinking about this thing for more than 6 months, I think we’ve finally come up with a good explanation.

Ministry: No one formally in charge
We’d like to start a legitimate urban ministry, with the same goals as most other ministries in America—to love people in the name of Jesus.
One significant difference between our ministry and others is that there’s no one formally in charge.

Legitimate Ministry?
Melissa and I are always cautious to use words like “ministry” and “organization” because they have such complex meanings in modern “Christianity” (also a tricky word).
So a fair question is, what makes us think we’re so special?
We are starting a legitimate urban ministry with very traditional intentions, so we need to explain what makes it the same and what makes it different from other organizations.
This isn’t a sales pitch. These are things that we would genuinely like other people to consider.
