I never know what to read.

I go to the bookstore and I stare.  Does an interesting title warrant $14, probably not.

I walk up and down the library aisles glancing over book spines.  I never read any of the titles, I just look at all of the colors.  There’s just too many.  It’s like finding a Reese’s Piece in a bucket of M&Ms.

What am I supposed to be doing exactly, picking up each one book and reading the back?  I don’t have time or patience (OK, mostly patience) for that.

I generally only read things that I can look up or things that someone has suggested to me.

In honesty, I only read about six different authors because I remember their last name and can peruse their particular alphabetical section.

I could read book reviews, but those are generally only for new, expensive books.

Oprah’s book club has been a consistent disappointment for me.  After The Sound and the Fury and A Million Little Pieces I patently avoid anything with her sticker.

So I thought I would write a common man’s review with suggestions for reading.  Not new books, not outstanding books, just books that I stumbled upon that are worth ordering off of Amazon for $1 or looking for at the local library.

I would present one now, but I have to write it first.
